Event Description: Bill Walter III was a resident of Ormond Beach, a graduate of Spruce Creek High School, husband, father and an athlete who enjoyed many sports. In January 1995 Bill was diagnosed with level 5 melanoma. In August 1998 friends, family and classmates rallied together to bring the first annual Bill Walter III Melanoma 5K to Ormond Beach with Bill and his family there. Three months later Bill lost his battle with this dreaded disease. The battle continues as Bill’s positive spirit lives on in the hearts of those who are trying to help find a cure for melanoma. The 13th annual run, RayZ Awareness, will take place on the beach at the Granada Beach approach. Walkers and walking groups are welcome. Donations are gratefully accepted. The money raised during this event will be used to help fund melanoma research, assist patients in need of financial support and to increase melanoma awareness.

Event Description: The City Scramble is an exciting day of challenges in Daytona Beach! Each team must be made up of 2 people. So find a buddy and sign up today! The race will start promptly at 12:00 when you will receive your clue list. Figure them out quickly and start running. Remember, only your feet can be used as transportation! You are welcome to use all sorts of technology though (cell phones with internet, digital cameras, maps, etc. are encouraged!) and friends to figure out the clues and map out your route. There is no defined route and this is NOT a closed course event so be careful! You'll have about 12 stops to make on this adventure. A photo must be taken at each of them to prove you were there and some even have a challenge for you to take on. It will be fun stuff though, brains will often beat brawns on these challenges! Be the first team back to win a cash prize! Plus, a portion of your race entry fee will go to The BASE Camp.

Event Description: The 2010 Daytona Beach Half Marathon will be held on Halloween morning, October 31. The third annual race begins on pit road of Daytona International Speedway, and the first 2.2 miles of the course are on the track. The race then winds through the city and reaches the World's Most Famous Beach (on the boardwalk) before finishing back at the track at the Speedway's actual finish line. The post-race party will be held in the Speedway's infield. The awards ceremony will take place in Gatorade Victory Lane.
